A letter to you, who are going through abuse

Dear friend,

I am so sorry for what you have been going through. It must take so much strength and courage to live day to day, and I hope that you know that you’re not alone in this.

First and foremost, no one deserves to be mistreated or harmed. Please know that the abuse you experienced is not your fault and you do not deserve to be a victim of abuse. You decerve to be treated with love, kindness and care.

You are not to blame for the actions of your abuser

I want to acknowledge the pain, fear, and trauma that you may be experiencing as a result of the abuse. Sometimes, we get into an anxious, survival-mode mindset and block out the pain as a coping mechanism. But it's okay to feel overwhelmed, confused, or even numb. It's important to remember that healing is a process and takes time. It's okay to take your time and to prioritize your well-being.

You are a survivor

You have already shown incredible strength by surviving the abuse and seeking support. It's important to recognize your resilience and the inner strength that you possess. You are capable of healing and moving forward, even though it may not feel like it at times.

Remember to practice self-care and be gentle with yourself. Healing from abuse is not easy, and it's important to prioritize your physical, emotional, and mental well-being. You are worthy of a safe and healthy life, and you have the right to set healthy boundaries and prioritize your own well-being. Take time to engage in activities that bring you joy and peace.

And you also do not have to go through this alone. Reach out to trusted friends, family, or professionals who can provide you with emotional support, resources, and guidance. It's okay to ask for help and to take steps towards your healing journey.

You are not defined by the abuse you experienced

Take things at your own pace, and remember to prioritize your self-care. You are not alone, and there is hope for healing and recovery. You are deserving of a healthy and fulfilling life, and I am here to support you in any way I can.

Sincerely,

Hansel
