Counseling is a safe, confidential space to discuss topics that are deeply sensitive, such as personal insecurities, relationship problems, workplace issues and traumatic life incidents.
Licensed counselors utilize therapeutic skills to ethically and unbiasedly walk
with people through these troubling and confusing times.
We also educate on psychological theories and researches, as well as ask questions that people might not have thought of, to help them make the best decisions in life possible.
As a counselor, my journey into the world of psychology began at the age of fifteen for me, being the “relationship advice” guy to my friends back in high school.
By the time I was twenty-one, I had become a youth leader helping pre-teens with relationships, studies and self-esteem problems.
Fast forward to today, I find myself partnering with individuals, academic institutes, and organizations to tackle mental health on a personal and systemic scale in Malaysia.
But the journey wasn’t always smooth as completing my masters in counseling came at a significant toll.
As tuition fees dried up the last of my finances, I went through a break up and I started to seriously questioned if my decision to pursue this path was worth it.
Depression sank in deep and long. I had to humbly admit that being in mental health doesn’t immune me to mental health issues. With the help of a my support system, I was able to grow and develop a comprehensive understanding and remember why I chose to pursue this career path all those years ago:
“If I could to dedicate my life to achieve success of any kind, it would be to help others”
This is a snippet of my journey.
One that I would not have made through without the help of others. In the same way, I look forward to hearing yours, and perhaps help you find your way through it as well 🙂
“My counselling experience really helps me to understand myself better, as well to tackle the main problem in myself that I initially did not recognize.“
“Counseling has allowed me put things in the right perspective. It helped me focus on things that are within my control rather than get overwhelmed by the situation.”
“Hansel is a very understanding person, who listens well. I am genuinely amazed by how attentive he has been to my words & my concerns.”
“Non-judgmental, flexibility in counselling, excellent communication skills. Although my English is not that good, but Hansel is very patient in listening and helping me.”
“As this is my first time with a therapist, I am happy I got Hansel as my counselor. It did not feel awkward nor forced.”
“Excellent. I felt very comfortable. I could feel like I was making actual progress over the sessions.”
