Life is a very challenging process especially when life’s speedbumps come our way and oftentimes it can feel as if we’re encountering more speedbumps, detours, or roadblocks than we can handle. This can bring about a range of difficult thoughts and feelings, and perhaps even maladaptive coping mechanisms. Perhaps you may feel that you’ve lost yourself with all that has been happening in your life.

As a licensed counselor, I believe that therapy is not reserved as a reactive approach to life but as a proactive approach in how we can do life better. I strive to provide a safe place for you to attain the needed emotional support, discover more about your individual strengths and flaws, build resilience and ultimately explore options in the face of what can best be done with the hurdles and obstacles. 

I believe that the foundation for the counselling process is unconditional positive regard for you. I also believe in the power of authenticity because it is the first step into wholeness as well as exploring how the community around you has shaped the choices you have made thus far and being the person you feel you have become currently. 

I am passionate about healthy relationships, whether it is with oneself or with loved ones or with the people who surround us everyday. I am also passionate about supporting you in your search in the questions regarding life and all that life throws at you. I would be so honoured to begin this explorative journey on how I can help and support you in navigating life’s speed bumps, detours, and occasional road blocks.

The idea of therapy particularly in our culture is often intimidating. There’s so many misconceptions surrounding it. I decided I would try two sessions to “test the waters”.

Ruth made my comfortable right from the start. She addressed my fears and apprehensions early on, easing that early process. What I found most helpful was having her validate what I was feeling, giving me insight into root issues that were triggering unhealthy responses and behaviors with simple exercises after each session.
